Meeting at the Beach - Painting

Meeting at the Beach

Meeting at the Beach
Acrylic on Canvas Board
11" X 14"
2006

Artist Comments:

A NEW couple meet for the first time at a quiet secluded beach.

The peacefulness of the surrounding ocean and sheltering looming cliffs help them to relax.

They feel at ease as they share each others dreams, hopes, and fears.

Transcendence - Freestyle Drawing

Transcendence

TRANSCENDENCE
Graphite Drawing on Bristol
9" X 12"
2008

Artist Comments:

Transcendence means "going beyond" ones natural capabilities. It implies deliverance - being lifted up or brought out of - and "renewed".

Transcendence in this drawing means "PROGRESS".

Much of my past artwork dealt with the subject of change and progress from nature's perspective - paralleled with an underlying theme of the human psychological condition.

Beachview - Newfoundland Artwork

Beach View

At the Beach - Enjoying the View
Oil Painting on Canvas Board
9" X 12"
2008

Artist Comments:

This is an early evening view from a rocky beach at LaScie, in Newfoundland, Canada.

This is a small fishing village.

Wharfs and boats similar to the ones in this painting dot the shoreline.

The hills in the background actually surround this small village, providing a naturally sheltered harbor.
A small boat gently rocks back and forth, swayed by continuous rolling waves.

The aroma of the salty sea are mixed with the always unpleasant smells of a bustling fish-plant.

It is very peaceful here.

Iceflow - Surreal Painting Art

Iceflow

Iceflow
Oil on Canvas Board
12" X 16"
2008

Artist Comments:

Icebergs are a common sight where I live.

They actually make a long voyage here from the glaciers of the arctic.During the spring/ early summer months icebergs are also a great tourist attraction. They often have beautiful sculptural forms and no two are ever alike.

Some are towering majestic chunks of ice poised ready to topple over, and are being molded and shaped by the elements.

Others have cracks and even deep caves and crevices.

The wind and the waves work together to form one of natures finest masterpieces - the magnificent iceberg.

Artist Comments :

There are many types of triumph.Conquest over trials, hardships, misfortune, fear, guilt, addictions, hate, pain, battles ...

Triumph is:

Rejoicing and jubilation over a huge victory or success.

Rising above your circumstances - being a winner despite setbacks.

Being VICTORIOUS.

Ray of Hope - Drawing

Ray of Hope

Ray of Hope
Graphite Drawing on Bristol
9" X 12"
2008

Artist Comments:

Hope is a belief that circumstances will always get better.

People hope for lots of things - more money, popularity, world peace, love... the list goes on and on.

People generally hope for positive things and outcomes - whether they actually "expect" them to happen - it keeps us going by just hoping.
